This was a village over-run by German soldiers during WW2
Artillery pounded St Petersburg from this town
To this day “The Searchers “[ as theyy are known today ] (Students from German and Russian universities along with officials from the respective War ministries ) conduct detection for dog tags and munitions and to rebury discovered solders fallen in battle .
Devart in Slavic means ” Two ”
Kino means “window ” or ” film “in other words a town named Twowindows ,.
When Russian soldiers retook the town from the Germans there were only 2 windows left in unbroken and in tact .
The town is at the end of the Metro station line and has many Dachas even today made of wood .Its not uncommon in winter to see state made sleds being pushed along on the snow covered ice by children
